Gottwood Chapter 6

Last weekend it was time to embark on my yearly pilgrimage to the ends of the earth a.k.a Anglesey in North Wales, home to Gottwood festival. This year the festival fell slap bang in the middle of my masters dissertation which was kind of daunting having to miss so much valuable time but I couldn’t miss Gottwood for the world!

After the mammoth journey we were greeted on site by a bunch of friendly Bristol faces and set up camp in prime (or not so prime) location by the loos haha. Once settled it was time to venture into the festival site which was just as beautiful and magical as ever. A new stream of artists were already hard at work creating their masterpieces and the soft sounds of house and disco drifted through the trees. Within a few minutes of dancing at the Hay Bail stage one of the DJ’s dropped ‘Give me some emotion’ by Jamie Bull, a track I had been obsessing over all week. As afternoon turned into night it gets harder to keep a track of things; the goodness all swirls into one but highlights were definitely Leon Vynehall, Marcellus Pittman and Midland finishing the final set of the night with an edit of Debbie Jacobs- Don’t You Want My Love.

All week it had been forecast to absolutely tip it down on the Saturday but the weather gods were kind and the sun shone down on another beautiful day. Theres no doubt about it Move D completely stole the show leaving other fab DJ’s such a Tornado Wallace playing (an amazing set) to a very empty walled garden. Trinstan Da Cuhna also played an amazing disco infused set which I really hope he recorded and uploads asap. Highlights were definitely Move D playing the streets ‘has it come to this?’ in the middle of a set at the Trawler stage and finishing up with ‘Summertime’ by Rosinha De Valencia!

Sunday rolled in much too soon. Not wanting to miss a second we headed down to the festival site early to catch Soul Clap play at the caravan stage. Again the sun was shining, spirits were high and Soul Clap were on top form banging out tunes like ‘Finally’ by Ce Ce Peniston. At the end of the night we headed to Ben UFO and danced our arses off like we would never be able to dance again. When the last song came to a close chants of ‘One Last Song’ echoed around the woods but we all knew it was time to finish and reminisce in what was another incredible year at Gottwood Festival.

As usual it is not only the incredible music but more the beautiful beautiful people that make the festival what it is so thank you to all those new and old for making it so special ❤ until next year!

Here are some pictures and a link to a team effort playlist of track IDs from the weekends finest. Enjoy x
